The mountain ash or rowan berry grows wild in forests and bushes. In addition, the tree is often planted in gardens and along roadsides.


The rowanberry belongs to the rose family. The tree can grow between five and 15 meters high. Its leaflets consist of nine to 15 leaflets. Flowering time is from May to June. The name rowan berry derives from the bright yellow to red, spherical fruits that hang on the branches between August and October and are eaten by birds.
