Pacemaker: about, What It Is, How it works

Millions of Americans rely on pacemakers to regulate their heartbeats. These tiny devices work by stimulating the heart’s natural pacemaker, called a “Ventricular Septal Defect,” or VSD, to usually improve its ability to beat. Although pacemakers can save lives, they can also cause heart failure when they hit too quickly or slowly.

A pacemaker is an electrical pulse generator for the beating heart. Read all about the surgery and life with a pacemaker.

Caesarean section – this is how the operation works

The cesarean section (also known as a C-section) describes the surgical delivery of a child through an incision in the abdomen and uterus.

If you’re considering having a C-section, it’s essential to know what to expect. C-sections are among the most common surgical procedures performed today and have become even more common in the last 20 years. The primary reason for the rise in C-sections is to reduce the overall rate of maternal and infant mortality. While a C-section may be a safe option for some women, it’s essential to understand what you can expect before your surgery. Please read all about it!

Magnetic Field Therapy: that's behind it

Magnetic field therapy, also known as magnetic therapy, is an alternative medical treatment that uses magnetic fields and magnetic fields’ properties to treat medical conditions. It is applied externally in devices that generate or apply magnetic fields to the body. Proponents of magnetic field therapy claim it can relieve various conditions, such as chronic musculoskeletal pain, fibromyalgia, depression, and osteoarthritis. Read more about how it works.

What is therapy?

Therapy is generally understood to be the treatment of a disease. A prerequisite for effective treatment is knowing the cause of the symptoms. For example, the doctor makes a diagnosis beforehand.

Therapies include operations and the administration of medication, psychotherapeutic measures, and alternative medical methods or treatment by a physiotherapist.

The therapy should either heal the disease more quickly (causal treatment) or alleviate the symptoms (symptomatic treatment). Ideally, the patient’s health can be restored on a physical and psychological level. If this is not possible, the goal of therapy is to alleviate the symptoms at least or to stop or slow down the progression of the disease. Read more about how it works.

Psychotherapy: definition

Some use the term “therapy” as shorthand for psychotherapy. Psychotherapy means “treatment of the soul.” This refers to various methods that are used to treat mental illnesses. These include, for example, methods based on depth psychology such as psychoanalysis or cognitive behavioral therapy.
